Action Required for Jira Admins: This update introduces expanded monitoring capabilities. Upon installing or updating, Jira Cloud Site Administrators will be prompted to approve two new Atlassian scopes: manage:jira-configuration and manage:jira-project.

1. 📊 Automated Jira Data & System Limits Monitoring

Take full control of your Jira Cloud instance limits before hitting Atlassian hard ceilings. QuotaWatch now audits and tracks site-wide capacity across 11 core Jira system categories:

  • Custom Fields & Field Schemes – Track total custom field counts against site limits.

  • Workflows & Statuses – Monitor active workflow schemes, transitions, and status definitions.

  • Projects & Spaces – Instant visibility into total project count, including detection of Ghost Projects (abandoned or empty projects consuming resources).

  • Components & Versions (Releases) – Identify high-density projects nearing Atlassian per-project component and version limits.

  • Issue Types, Priorities & Security Levels – Audit global issue type configurations, priority schemes, and permission grants.

2. 🛡️ Custom Governance Policy Engine & Threshold Alerts

Proactively manage instance health with customizable governance safety rules:

  • Configurable Entity Safeguards: Set independent Warning (e.g., 80%) and Critical (e.g., 90%) thresholds for custom fields, workflows, components, versions, and issue types.

  • Capacity Drift Tracking: Automatically calculates object deltas between scans, keeping a rolling 5-point history of sudden growth or capacity spikes.

  • Automated Governance Issue Alerts: Automatically posts formatted alert comments to your designated Jira Monitoring Issue when any system object crosses critical threshold limits.

  • Instance Health & Risk Score: Visual overall health score categorized into Healthy, Monitor, Warning, and Critical status levels with actionable remediation recommendations.

🔒 Security & OAuth Scope Updates

To scan and report on global Jira system object limits, QuotaWatch now requires the following additional Atlassian Forge scopes:

🎯 How to Get Started

  1. Re-authorize Scopes: When prompted in Jira, approve the updated app permissions (manage:jira-configuration & manage:jira-project).

  2. Open the Capacity & Governance Tab: Navigate to QuotaWatch in Jira to run your initial site capacity audit.

  3. Configure Governance Rules: Set your desired warning thresholds under Alert Rules to start receiving automated data limit notifications.
