Access & Permissions

Access & Permissions

To enable the governance and facilitation features of Daily Standup Governance for Jira, you must set up a specific security group in your Jira instance. This group allows authorized users to manage standup configurations and view team-level insights.

Mandatory Group Setup

The application looks for a specific group name to grant facilitator permissions. This group must be created manually before you can fully use the Facilitator Dashboard.

1. Create the Facilitators Group

  1. Log in to your Jira instance as an Organization Administrator.

  2. Navigate to Jira Settings (gear icon) > User Management.

  3. In the left sidebar, select Groups.

  4. Click the Create group button. ( Refer Atlassian doc to manage groups https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/manage-groups/ )

  5. Enter the following exact name:

    • Group name: logiclemurlabs-standup-facilitators

  6. Click Create.

Group name must be exactly same

In order to DSGJ work as expected the name of group must be as specified above only. Do not make any changes in the name.

Why is this required?
To maintain strict governance and prevent unauthorized logic changes, only users verified as members of this specific Atlassian group can access the management layer of the application. This ensures that your ceremony configuration remains tamper-proof.

Extending Access to Other Facilitators

Once the global

logiclemurlabs-standup-facilitators

group is created, any existing facilitator can grant specific facilitation rights for a board to other members of that group.

How to Add a Co-Facilitator

  1. Navigate to the Facilitator Dashboard for your specific board.

  2. Open the Standup Settings or locate the Facilitators management section.

  3. You will see a dropdown list of Available Users. This list automatically includes everyone who is:

    • A member of the

      logiclemurlabs-standup-facilitators

      Jira group.

    • Has permission to view the current Jira board.

  4. Select the user from the list and click Add Facilitator.

Key Rules for Access Extension

  • Board-Level Scope: Facilitation rights are granted per board. Adding a facilitator to "Board A" does not automatically give them rights to "Board B" unless explicitly added there as well.

  • Auto-Sync: If a user is removed from the global Jira group by an administrator, they will automatically lose their facilitation interface across all standups, even if they remain listed in individual board settings.

  • The "Last Facilitator" Guard: The app prevents you from removing the last facilitator of a board to ensure the standup is never left without a governor. You must add a replacement before the final facilitator can be removed.
